“Being a Parent is Keeping Active and Healthy Together.”
Parenting Limerick’s fourth phase of our two year Positive Parenting campaign starts today, Monday, November 2nd, 2015. For the next two months, we will be promoting the message that an important part of being a parent is taking the time to keep active and healthy as a family. Eating Well, Getting Exercise, Taking Care of Body and Mind…Keeping Active and Healthy Together will benefit the whole family. The healthy habits formed in childhood will serve your children for the rest of their lives.
Most parents struggle to find time to juggle all of the demands of daily life. After a long, hard day, it can be challenging to prepare a healthy dinner and even more challenging to get out and about, especially as the early nights settle in. During this campaign, however, we are encouraging families to make small changes in their daily routines to improve their overall health.. This may be as simple as getting the children involved in making a healthy dinner (a plastic knife and an onion or tomato can keep small hands busy for quite awhile) or taking a stroll together as a family after dinner to look at the stars. For older children, it may be teaching them how to prepare a simple meal or encouraging them to take up a sport or class.
As part of promoting positive interactions campaign, Parenting Limerick will be hosting a series of interactive workshops to encourage parents to take some time to keep healthy and active with their children. Workshops will run throughout the 8 week campaign.
To find out about the workshops visit our Event page or our Facebook Page. We will be adding events over the course of the two year campaign.
