“Stop running!”
“Don’t hit your sister!”
“Why are you on your tablet, you are not finished your homework?!”
Sound familiar? You are definitely not alone! As parents, we have a habit of telling our children what we don’t want them to do. Either that or we are so vague that little ones don’t know what is expected of them. All this can get a bit confusing!
Instead, we can simply change our words and tell children what we want them to do. Try saying:
“Walk please!”
“Gentle hands!”
“Finish your homework now, please!”
That way, we are much more likely to get the message through!
