Going back to school is a big step – especially in the current environment of uncertainty. Make time to talk with your child. Give them the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about returning to school. Discuss their hopes, fears and worries. Acknowledge that they’ve lived through a lot, and remind them of times they have overcome challenges in the past. Explain to them that school is going to be different this year, and be understanding if this causes anxiety. Be calm – if you are steady and matter of fact, your child will take their lead from you and feel reassured.
